Join a passionate group of writers who are dedicated to working together to learn and grow their writing skills.
A Guild is defined as an "association of craftspeople, often having considerable power," and an "association of people for mutual aid or the pursuit of a common goal."
This is what we have created with the Story Grid Guild.
Each four month cycle will encapsulate highly specific and in-depth training to learn engaging and exciting line-by-line writing that will keep readers turning pages.
Every Monday we will release new instruction on the semester's topic. This will include examples, how-tos, and next steps for your personal writing practice.
Every Monday with the release of the instruction, you will get access to the week's writing assignment. This will take less than an hour a week, but will include highly potent and practical exercises to help you level up your writing.
Each month, join the semester's instructor for a live Q&A to ask your questions on the month's topic, instruction, and practice.
You will have the opportunity to join small groups of other Guild members to weekly work and practice together.
Each month you will have access to live training with Shawn Coyne where he teaches something new and fresh based on his latest work. These sessions will be recorded and made available to you.
Each month as part of the live training you will have access to a live Q&A where Shawn Coyne will answer your questions. You can submit questions ahead of time if you’re unable to attend.
Access in-depth training on the foundational Story Grid tools and methodology including the Spreadsheet, Five Commandments of Storytelling and the Foolscap.
Join other Story Grid Guild members and Story Grid Certified Editors in an online forum where you can help each other level up your craft.
Get first access to all the new Story Grid Publishing titles. You will have the digital editions (EPUB, MOBI, PDF and — for many titles — audiobook) directly in your account. United States residents have the option to get the print editions as well.
As a Story Grid Guild member you will receive 20% off all products, events, seminars, and books we offer (excluding Story Grid Editor Certification training).
We have been hard at work developing a searchable database of scene types, value shifts, obligatory moments, conventions, and more along with interactive infographics. Only Guild members have access to this new treasure trove of story insights.
Our goal with Story Grid Publishing is to provide a home for authors that are focused on the craft, not the business — the process, not the results. By joining the Guild, you are supporting this mission.
When you join the Story Grid Guild, you become a part of a community of writers dedicated to supporting each other in leveling up their craft.
"What I have loved the most about being part of the Guild is not only the books, conference calls, and other resources but the community in the forums. Everyone is so helpful, sharing their experience and welcoming all opinions, both by advanced learners and from newbies like me. This is the home I needed to become the best writer I can be."
— V. L. Perillo
"In three months I've grown more as a writer than the last two years combined. I expected to learn a lot, but I never expected to be so inspired!
The guild has well surpassed my expectations, and I expected a lot.
I can't estimate the years of writing the guild has saved me due to the access to incredible editors and this tribe of equally driven storytellers."
— Don Elliott, author of something soon.
"What I enjoy most about the Story Grid Guild is the mix of engaged story-passionate personalities and all the variety that comes to the table because of the mix. I 'm happy to study my craft on my own, but when Shawn brings psychology, philosophy and neural science and Tim brings practicality and Anne, Larry, Valerie, Leslie and others bring their insights... Wow. They make me WANT to study alongside them. Then, because of the variety of approaches---written, audio only, audio-visual, and teleportation (not really, but someday...) it's like being part of the best in-person writer's group, only I don't ever have to miss a session.
What I'm getting is concentrated expertise I could not have stumbled across on my own, and did not stumble across in graduate school, delivered at my convenience. I also get the benefit of like-minded people discussing what they are getting on the forum, plus what they are being inspired to delve into on their own. I am inspired and humbled by my fellow guilders.
Why join? For me there were two powerful incentives. First, the vision. The vision that Shawn and Tim are spearheading answers every objection I've had to traditional craft building and publishing methods. Their vision is spot on and their resumes give me confidence that they will bring the vision to life. Second, helping them to breathe life into that vision is making me a better story teller."
— Donah Grassman, author
"Story Grid has helped me establish clear goals in my writing and editing that has made the process so much more enjoyable and productive in ways no other membership ever has. I highly recommend Story Grid."
— Estee Cortez, aspiring author
